Human civilization have had a very diverse, and vital relationship with the forests, which are: making it's sorroundings beautiful, creating health, and in many situations giving sure shelter and food, as well as with it's irreplaceable product, the wood. Wood is one of humanyties most important raw material. From all raw materials, wood is the only one, which can be reproduced, and the waste produced, as well as the materials used, can be 100% recycled (reused).
Romania, despite of the numerous afforestations of the last years is still one of the countries rich in forests with it's 26.6% (6.315.770 ha) of land being covered by forests. This procentage in Europe is at average 30.9 and on the Earth 26.4. Considering the size of the forests Romania is on the 17th place in Europe, and when it comes to annual growth it is on the 3rd place, with 5.6m3/ha.

At the beggining of the new century we must also mention the fact, that the constant diminuation of the forests on the Earth is forecasting the possibility of a global, environmental catastrophee happening.

Making a proper forest ecenomy come true, has become one of the 21th centuries main duties. Seemingly there is one main contradiction to this, showing that the wood exploitated from forests is oneof the most important environment friendly raw material. It is our urgent and important duty to use wood instead of metal, plastic and reinforced concrete, wherever it is possible. So, we must preserve, plant and manage our forests in such way, that in the meantime we ae constantly modernizing them, by introducing new technologies, and increasing the production and usage of wooden materials.

For our long time survival we consider cooperation vital: this is why we have established ARBOR - The Association of Wood Workers.

The totalyty of these businesses is now having more then 1000 occupied persons in the whole of the Gheorgheni basin.

Strating from the principle, that we have very big need of our forests for a very long time, we will need a higher level in using the wood. This way we can have more people from the sorroundings working for us, and we can sell our products at a higher price. Since the expoitation of the trees coming from the areas strongly affected by storms, one can sense a switch over to the better usage of wood.

Contracters have a very important role in the economic and social development of the region. The businesses represented by the founders have contributed in an important degree to the material suport of the different sports, cultural and other kinds of even
